Frequently asked questions

Everything about the free trial, pricing, and how DMV Permit Pass helps you pass — first try.

Getting started

Is DMV Permit Pass free?

You can start with a free 3-day trial of everything. After that, keep going for $9.99/month or unlock it forever with a one-time $24.99 Lifetime purchase. There's also a free tier — you can use the lessons and some practice questions without any trial or payment.

Do I need an account or to give personal info?

No. There's no sign-up, no email required, and no personal information to start studying. Your progress is saved right on your device.

Which states are supported?

All 50. Every state has its own set of 400+ practice questions built from that state's official driver handbook, plus state-specific lessons and a cheat sheet. Pick your state when you open the app.

What languages does it support?

The entire app — questions, answers, and explanations — is available in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and French. You can switch anytime.

Pricing & billing

What's the difference between Monthly and Lifetime?

They're two separate options, and both are always available. Monthly ($9.99/mo) starts with a 3-day free trial, then auto-renews each month until you cancel. Lifetime ($24.99) is a one-time purchase — you pay once and keep full access forever, with no subscription.

Does the free trial turn into a paid subscription?

The 3-day free trial only applies to the Monthly plan. If you start the trial and don't cancel within 3 days, it becomes a $9.99/month subscription. If you'd rather not have a recurring charge, choose Lifetime instead — it never renews.

Can I try it before paying at all?

Yes. The app has a free tier (lessons and some practice) you can use with no trial and no card. When you're ready for full access — mock exams, unlimited practice, Smart Review — you choose Monthly or Lifetime.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Go to Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone, select DMV Permit Pass, and cancel. If you cancel during the 3-day trial you won't be charged. (An app can't cancel a subscription for you — only you can, in Settings.)

I started the trial but want Lifetime instead. What do I do?

Buy Lifetime anytime — it unlocks full access immediately and never renews. To avoid also being billed monthly, cancel the trial in Settings → Subscriptions (canceling during the 3 days means no monthly charge).

Do you offer refunds?

All purchases go through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

The app & studying

How does it help me actually pass?

It doesn't just quiz you — it teaches. Short lessons pull the key facts from your state's handbook, practice re-drills only the questions you get wrong until you master them, Smart Review uses spaced repetition to bring back your weak spots, and full mock exams mirror the real test-day format (50 questions, 80% to pass).

Can I review the questions I got right or wrong?

Yes. There's a browsable review: a “Questions you missed” list to study harder (each shown with the correct answer and explanation) and a “Questions you got right” list for a quick refresher — plus the automatic Smart Review that reschedules your weak questions over time.

Does it work offline?

Your state's content works offline once loaded, so you can study on the bus, in line, or anywhere without signal.

Content & accuracy

Where do the questions come from?

Every question is original study material written from your state's newest official government driver handbook — not recycled from other apps. Each comes with a plain-English explanation so you learn the “why.”

Is this affiliated with the DMV?

No. DMV Permit Pass is an independent study aid and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any state DMV or licensing agency. “DMV” refers to state driver-licensing agencies generally.
